  2. Parkin (PARK2), PINK1 (PARK6), and DJ-1 (PARK7): Mutations in these genes disrupt the normal function of proteins involved in mitochondrial quality control and cellular stress response. Dysfunction in these pathways has been implicated in the development of Parkinson’s disease.
  3. LRRK2 (PARK8): Mutations in the LRRK2 gene are associated with both familial and sporadic forms of PD. The LRRK2 protein plays a role in regulating cellular processes such as neuronal function, inflammation, and autophagy.
  4. GBA: Mutations in the GBA gene increase the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. The GBA enzyme is involved in the breakdown of waste products within cells, and its dysfunction may contribute to the accumulation of harmful substances.
